General recommendations for safe use of cards
Considering the increasing number of fraud cases involving payment cards worldwide, we strongly recommend that you follow the guidelines below when using your VISA payment cards:
- After receiving a new payment card, sign the back of the card in the designated signature area.
- You must immediately notify the bank by calling the 24/7 Customer Support Center and block your card in case of loss/theft, card compromise, or upon receiving an SMS notification about unauthorized transactions on your card.
- Do not give your card or its PIN code to others, and do not share your card number or security code (CVV2 – the three-digit code on the back of the card). Do not write the PIN on the card or store it with the card. The PIN must be memorized.
- Remember that disclosing your PIN code, personal data, or losing your card carries the risk of unauthorized withdrawal of funds from your bank account by third parties.
- Please note that bank employees will never ask for your PIN code or CVV2 security code by phone/email/SMS.
- Check your account transactions via the Internet Banking system at least once a month.
- Pay special attention to account activity after international trips where the card was used.
- Keep your contact information up to date so the Bank can reach you via phone/email/SMS, for example, in the case of suspicious activity on your card.
What is 3D Secure Technology?
For the security of Internet payments, all DemirBank cards (except for Elcart payment system cards) are connected to the 3D Secure service. When conducting transactions on websites that support 3D Secure Technology, the cardholder gets the opportunity to confirm each transaction with a unique password, ensuring maximum security. The password is sent as an SMS message to the mobile phone number of the cardholder registered with the Bank.
Please note:
Access to making payments for goods / services on the Internet is open by default*.
(*) To close/open access to making payments for goods / services on the Internet, please contact the Bank to sign the application or send a message to the e-mail address: customercare@demirbank.kg. In response to your request, you will be sent an application form to fill out in order to close access.
Your e-mail details, as well as your mobile phone number, must be registered in the Bank’s database.
How does 3D Secure work?
- The cardholder places an order for goods/services through a website that supports 3D Secure technology and enters the card details requested by the online store.
- After entering all required card details, the cardholder is prompted to enter a one-time password (OTP) to confirm the transaction. This password is automatically sent by DemirBank via SMS message to the mobile phone number registered with the Bank. The password is sent at the moment the transaction is initiated online after the card details are entered and can be used only once.
- Enter the received password in the designated field and confirm the payment. Funds will be withdrawn from your card and the purchase completed only if the correct password is entered. If you do not receive the SMS within 3 minutes, you may request a new password by clicking the "Resend password" link. You can request a new password a maximum of 2 times. If the one-time password is entered incorrectly three times, the transaction will be declined. To unlock the card, please contact DemirBank's 24/7 Customer Support Service at: +996 (312) 610 610, 610 613, 2222.
-
The ability to use 3D Secure technology is available only if the Bank has a current mobile phone number for you, provided by a local mobile network operator (Beeline, Megacom, O!). Please promptly inform DemirBank of any changes to your mobile phone number by submitting a written request to any Bank branch.
Security measures when using bank cards on the Internet
- To prevent unauthorized transactions and withdrawal of funds from your bank account, we recommend using a Virtual Card for online purchases. A virtual card can only be issued if you have a credit card. Important: The credit limit of your credit card is equal to the limit of your virtual card.
- When making transactions online, ensure that the website is secure. Use only trusted websites and make purchases from your personal computer, not from internet cafes where spyware may be installed.
- To ensure secure online transactions, we recommend making payments on websites that support 3D Secure security technology.
Recommendations for performing transactions through an ATM
- Perform transactions only at ATMs located in secure and well-monitored areas.
- If there are suspicious individuals nearby, it is advisable to choose a different time or use another ATM.
- Before using the ATM, inspect it for any unusual or additional devices, especially around the PIN pad or card slot (e.g., loosely attached PIN pad). If anything seems suspicious, do not use that ATM.
- Enter your PIN in a way that prevents others from seeing it. Always cover the keypad with your hand while entering your PIN.
- Remember: If you enter the wrong PIN three times, your card will be blocked by the bank.
To unblock your card, please contact DemirBank’s 24/7 Customer Support: +996 (312) 610 610, 610 613, 2222 Or email: customercare@demirbank.kg.
Your email address must be registered in the Bank's database.
Recommendations for using cards to perform cashless payments for goods and services
- Do not use payment cards at retail or service establishments that do not inspire trust.
- Always require that any transactions with your payment card be carried out in your presence. This is necessary to reduce the risk of unauthorized access to your personal data printed on the card.
- When using your payment card to pay for goods or services, the cashier may ask you to sign a receipt and enter your PIN code. Before entering your PIN code, make sure that no one nearby can see it. Before signing the receipt, always check the amount indicated on it.
